Vintage Book - Mr Middleton's Garden Book (1941) with wonderful postcard discovered inside
This is a first edition of Mr Middleton’s Garden Book, published in 1941. The book is full of vintage charm and has wear and discolouration reflective of its age. Perhaps just as special as the book itself is the postcard letter discovered inside - stamped 1941, the letter gives an interesting snapshot into life at Inwood House - the writer saying they have ‘had a difficult year with Maids’ and saying their new Maid is only temporary as she has ‘registered for joining the wrens’. (The Wrens were a women’s branch of the Royal Navy). A truly wonderful insight into life in the 1940s.
