Wedding Flower Preservation
I’m always delighted when I’m asked to press flowers that have been used to commemorate a special occasion. Pressing and framing wedding flowers is such a wonderful way to preserve them, and every time you see your bespoke artwork you’ll be reminded of your special day.
I only accept a small number of wedding flower commissions per year to ensure that your beautiful flowers receive all of the care and love they deserve, so do get in touch well in advance to secure your booking.
I offer my wedding flower preservation service exclusively to those getting married within or near to the Worcestershire area (or to those from further away who are happy to travel to me) because in order to press well, your flowers need to be as fresh as possible. It’s important to place your flowers in water as soon as possible after your celebrations have ended, and transport them to me on the day after your wedding (this often ends up being the job of a member of the wedding party!). I’m based in the heart of Worcestershire in a village called Martin Hussingtree (postcode WR3), and I do ask that the flowers are dropped off to me directly at my studio.
Some flowers press better than others – so please bear this in mind when getting in touch. For example, flowers with multiple layers of petals (such as a big ornamental rose) do not tend to press as well as flowers with more simple forms. There are things that can be done with roses, such as preserving individual petals, so if you’re happy for me to get creative with them then there are still options we can explore.
I will work with you to decide on the composition of your artwork, and I offer a variety of different options in terms of sizing and frame style (or you can provide your own frame if you’d prefer). It usually takes around two months from the date of your wedding to slow-press and complete your wedding flower artwork.
Prices vary depending on the style, size and number of pieces you would like. As a guide, an A3 piece is priced at £320 (excluding frame). A 50% deposit payment will be required to secure your slot, and the remaining balance will need to be paid before your artwork is collected or sent out.
All of the flowers in your artwork will be traditionally slow-pressed. Sustainability is a key part of my work, so I never use preservatives or sealants. As the flowers are natural, they will fade and change colour over time, however they'll always retain their beautiful organic forms. To preserve the colours for as long as possible, display your artwork out of direct sunlight and away from rooms that have high humidity levels.
As an additional extra, I also offer a flower drying service, where I naturally air-dry any flowers that I don’t press and create a dried bouquet or arrangement for you. This is a really nice option if you have roses in your selection, as they don’t press well but they do dry beautifully. This service starts from £100.
Please note I do get booked up well in advance - I’m fully booked for 2024 and only have a handful of spaces left for 2025.
Testimonial:
“Wow, wow and wow! We had Sarah preserve our wedding blooms and we couldn’t be more pleased - we had our honeymoon just after our wedding and were sad we wouldn't be able to admire our flowers after the day, but having them preserved means we can now treasure and admire them forever. We’d really recommend Sarah and her work to anyone. Thank you again Sarah, it’s all truly beautiful.”
